An oldie, but a goodie… I have enjoyed the function and design of this site for a while now.  For anyone interested in names and their popularity, this site uses Social Security data to track statistics on name use from 1880 to the present.  All that, and it’s fun to play with!

Hmm. I’d always understood that in 1947, at least, Linda was #1. The song “Linda” reached #1 that year and was recorded later by several singers, the most famous being Perry Como. As a child I was hugely entertained by the line “I say to myself, Hello Linda.”

    Linda

    You’ll remain #1 to us!
You know what’s really interesting? Did you notice how many MEN were named Linda in the 50s and 60s? I had no idea!
