Sharing our national past time worldwide

www.pitchinforbaseball.org

This is a non-profit organization relying on donations of “gently used” baseball uniforms and equipment so underprivilege children may enjoy America’s national past time across the world.  The website addresses the organization’s four goals:

   •   To support the growth of baseball in the U.S. and internationally.
   •   To give kids equipment so they can get out, have fun and stay healthy.
   •   To teach kids important lessons through baseball, like teamwork and sportsmanship.
   •   To make friends across the world through America’s past time.

Being a fan of the game of baseball, I personally liked and approved what the organization is doing.  Enjoy the site!

Memphis Zoo Projects and the Citizens To Preserve Overton Park

 http://www.memphiszoo.org/membership.aspx?pid=173

The Fred and Diane Smith Family Teton Trek is a four-acre exhibit opening at the Memphis Zoo in 2009 that will take people on a journey through the culture, history and wildlife of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

http://www.memphiszoo.org/membership.aspx?pid=175

The Memphis Zoo also has a project planned, Chickasaw Bluffs,  that involves 17 acres of forest in Overton Park and includes a low-impact forest trail.

http://www.overtonparkforever.blogspot.com/

The Citizens To Preserve Oveton Park opposes these projects because it wants to preserve the forest in Overton Park and does not want to see the implementation of any new projects that will shrink the existing forest; and it wants to stop the construction of Chickasaw Bluffs before it begins.
